2004 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L Petrol · AJ04 YOP

The vehicle currently holds no valid roadworthiness status. The most recent DVSA entry is a failed test dated 23 November 2021 at 91,470 miles, with the failure recorded but no specific defects listed. This single failed test, now over four and a half years old, shows no maintained or improving trend, and the car has not been presented for a subsequent MOT, meaning its legal and mechanical condition since that date is unverified. The recorded mileage of 91,470 at the 2021 test equates to roughly 4,158 miles per year across the car's 22-year life, which is low for a 2004 Passat. The MOT history contains only this one entry, so no pattern of accumulation or gaps between tests can be established beyond the absence of any recorded activity after late 2021. Low mileage combined with a long static period often allows corrosion and perished rubber components to develop unseen. A buyer must treat this vehicle as unroadworthy until proven otherwise. The 2021 failure with no defects noted suggests the tester logged a broad refusal condition, possibly emissions, structural, or documentation related, and the lack of a pass since means all systems are suspect. Given the age and standing period, priority checks should cover structural integrity for rust, suspension bushes, brake discs and calipers for seizure, and exhaust emissions. In-person inspection by a qualified technician is essential before any purchase. The sparse record offers no reassurance on upkeep, and the expired test status means the previous owner discontinued formal maintenance at least four years ago.
