2001 Nissan Pickup 2.5L Diesel · AJ51 VTM

The Nissan Pickup presents as roadworthy following its most recent MOT pass on 22 November 2024 at 171,499 miles, with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend is stable on paper, though the test history shows a recurring pattern of initial failures followed by quick passes, which warrants scrutiny rather than reassurance. Mileage sat at 155,949 miles for the October 2022 pass, rose to 163,395 miles by the 10 November 2023 failure, and reached 171,176 miles at the 13 November 2024 failure. That equates to roughly 7,700 miles per year, marginally above the 6,860-mile annual average for a 25-year-old vehicle. The DVSA entries are sparse and clean, listing no advisories or recorded defects across any test, which limits mechanical insight but also shows no flagged corrosion, brake, or suspension concerns. The two failures on 10 November 2023 and 13 November 2024 carry no stated defects, implying the tester raised a non-itemised refusal or administrative issue later cleared within days. A private buyer should still inspect structural integrity beneath the chassis and cab mounts, given Nissan Pickups of this era are prone to underbody rust. Check brake discs, calipers, and suspension bushes for wear consistent with 171,000 miles. Verify the reason for both failures via the full DVSA certificate detail before purchase. Confirm exhaust emissions and tyre condition in person, as the record omits advisories that often precede such failures on high-mileage commercial vehicles.
