2004 MINI Cooper 1.6L Petrol · AJ54 BWA

The most recent MOT test on 16 February 2023 recorded a failure at 133,381 miles, with no defects listed on the DVSA record. Prior to that, the vehicle passed on 11 December 2021 at 130,054 miles after a failed attempt two days earlier at 130,049 miles, also with no defects logged. The maintenance trend cannot be judged as stable, worsening, or improving from fault data because the records show no advisories or reported defects across any entry. The current status is simply that the car has not held a valid MOT for over three years, rendering it unroadworthy for use on public roads until retested. The odometer moved only 3,332 miles between the December 2021 pass and the February 2023 failure, averaging roughly 1,900 miles a year in that window. Over the vehicle's 22-year life the recorded 133,381 miles equate to about 6,063 miles annually, close to typical use for a 2004 hatchback. The sparse history shows a two-year gap between 2021 and 2023 and no tests after the 2023 failure, so the car has likely stood unused or off-road since. Low recent mileage combined with a long lapsed test period raises the risk of perished seals, flat-spotted tyres, and corrosion from prolonged storage. A buyer must commission a full inspection before any purchase. The 2023 failure with zero defects recorded suggests an administrative or unlogged mechanical issue at the testing station; confirm the reason with the test centre or VOSA correspondence. With no advisories ever raised, previous keepers may have presented the car for bare-minimum checks rather than proactive upkeep. Focus the physical examination on structural integrity, suspension bushes, brake discs and calipers for binding after standing, and underbody corrosion. Check exhaust emissions and tyre condition given the idle period. The Mini needs a fresh MOT and a qualified mechanic's appraisal before its roadworthiness can be established.
