2016 KIA Sportage 1.7L Diesel · AJ55 GEE

The 2016 Kia Sportage presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 23 September 2025 at 58,023 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing an unbroken five-year sequence of clean MOT results. Annual mileage sits low for a ten-year-old vehicle. The records show 42,317 miles at the 29 September 2021 test, rising to 46,176 by 30 September 2022, 50,542 by 26 September 2023, 54,805 by 25 September 2024, and 58,023 by September 2025. That equates to roughly 3,700 miles per year across the recorded period, well under the national average. The sparse, fault-free history gives no evidence of rapid accumulation or standing gaps, though low use can mask perished rubber components and corrosion that a test bay will not always flag. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and subframe structure given the vehicle's age and likely periods of inactivity. The absence of advisories across all five tests suggests previous owners kept basic upkeep current, yet DVSA checks do not measure hidden rust or intermittent binding calipers. Prior to purchase, verify brake disc thickness, exhaust emissions under load, and tyre sidewall condition. No recurring mechanical faults appear in the data, but a 2016 chassis warrants scrutiny for structural integrity beneath sills and wheel arches.
