2007 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4L Petrol · AP57 WHC

A chronic pattern of advisories on consumable and fluid-sealing components dominates the MOT record for this 2007 Vauxhall Corsa, with the most recent test on 22 November 2025 passing only after a Dangerous tyre cord-exposure failure the previous day was rectified. Across the seven entries spanning 2021 to 2025, only two tests (2021 and 2022) were recorded entirely free of advisory items. The remaining five tests all carry notes relating to oil leaks, brake wear, tyre condition, or a combination of these. Two failures are recorded: the Dangerous tyre failure in November 2025 and a 2024 windscreen wiper failure, both of which were resolved at retest. The presence of Major defects on both front anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust covers in November 2023 indicates that the suspension link protective boots had perished sufficiently to allow contamination ingress, a defect that warrants ongoing inspection of the joint itself rather than just the cover. Against a 19-year vehicle age, the recorded 84,235 miles equates to an average annual accumulation of roughly 4,433 miles, which is below typical usage for a vehicle of this era and indicates either extended periods of low use or genuine low-mileage motoring. There are no multi-year gaps in the MOT history between 2021 and 2025, suggesting the vehicle has been in regular use and presented for testing each year, rather than laid up. The mileage figures between tests appear to rise gradually rather than indicating a sudden high-mileage event, which is consistent with steady low-mileage running. Mechanically, low annual mileage tends to place greater stress on certain components such as brake discs and tyres, where corrosion and uneven wear from infrequent use can accelerate surface degradation, a profile that aligns with the repeated brake disc and tyre advisories seen across multiple tests. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the front brake discs and pads, as these have appeared as advisories on three consecutive tests from 2023 to 2025. On a test drive, listen for any grinding or squealing from the front axle under light braking, and feel for vibration or pedal pulsation through the brake pedal, which would indicate disc lipping or warping consistent with the recorded pitted and scored surfaces. The persistent oil leak advisory, recorded on every test since 2023, requires identification of its source, whether from the valve cover gasket, sump, or a camshaft or crankshaft seal, as even a non-excessive leak can develop into a more significant fault if left unresolved. Cool out of the engine bay for signs of fresh oil residue or accumulated grime around the front of the block. Given the 2023 Major defects on the front anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust covers and the recurring front shock absorber light misting advisory in 2024, the suspension system warrants particular scrutiny. With the vehicle elevated or on a ramp, examine the front anti-roll bar drop links for play in the ball joints and any signs of perished or split boots, as failed covers will have accelerated wear inside the joint itself. On the road, listen for clonking noises from the front suspension over uneven surfaces, particularly over speed bumps or potholes, and check for any vagueness or imprecise feel through the steering that could indicate worn linkages. Inspect the front inner tyres carefully for any cuts, cracking, or exposed ply, given the Dangerous failure in November 2025 and the 2024 advisory noting the tyres as worn close to the legal limit on both sides, and confirm the nearside rear tyre for any perishing that may now have progressed beyond a minor advisory stage.
