2008 BMW 3 Series 2.0L Diesel · AV08 YLU

This BMW 3 Series demonstrates a remarkably stable record of roadworthiness, with its most recent MOT on 27 August 2025 returning a clean pass without a single defect or advisory. This trend of zero-defect testing extends back to April 2022, indicating a vehicle that has avoided the chronic corrosion or suspension failures often associated with this chassis age. The odometer reading of 149,575 miles is typical for an 18-year-old vehicle, reflecting a consistent annual usage of roughly 8,310 miles. A significant point of interest is the three-year gap in the MOT history between April 2022 and August 2025. This period of inactivity or undocumented use suggests the vehicle may have been stationary for an extended duration, which can impact the condition of rubber seals and fluid-dependent systems. Given the three-year testing gap, a physical inspection should prioritize the condition of rubber components and braking efficiency. During the test drive, listen for knocks or clunks over uneven surfaces which would indicate wear in the suspension bushes or coil springs, common failure points for high-mileage BMWs that may not have been captured during the brief window of the latest test. Pay close attention to the smoothness of the drivetrain and the absence of any steering pull or pedal judder. While the official record is clean, the high mileage necessitates a check for oil misting around the engine seals and the condition of the brake discs for surface corrosion resulting from the period of inactivity. Ensure the gear changes are crisp and the engine idle is stable to confirm the vehicle has returned to full operational health following its hiatus.
