2008 Volvo V70 2.4L Diesel · AV58 JYB

The Volvo V70 presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 9 July 2025 at 130,573 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, and the three prior annual tests from 2022 to 2024 also passed cleanly. The single failure on 17 July 2023 at 112,584 miles carried no defects and was immediately followed by a pass at 112,585 miles the same day, indicating a clerical or procedural rejection rather than a mechanical fault. Mileage accumulation sits at a typical level for an 18-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 7,254 miles per year. The record shows steady annual use: 102,812 miles in July 2022, 112,585 miles in July 2023, 122,101 miles in July 2024, and 130,573 miles in July 2025. Annual increments of around 9,000 to 10,000 miles show no sudden accumulation spikes or dormant periods. The MOT data is sparse in advisories, with no corrosion, suspension bushes, brake discs, or exhaust emissions concerns flagged across the five-year span. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection despite the clean record. The absence of advisories means worn coil springs, binding calipers, or structural rust were not noted by testers, but Volvo estates of this era commonly develop subframe corrosion and rear suspension fatigue unseen in a brief test bay check. Verify the 2023 duplicate entry was administrative and confirm service history matches the recorded mileages. Given the vehicle's age and 130,573 miles, expect imminent consumable replacement regardless of MOT outcome. Tyres, wiper blades, and brake pad wear fall outside MOT failure thresholds until critical, so assess these directly. The consistent pass record implies prior owners kept basic statutory compliance, though it reveals little about intermediate servicing of drivetrain components.
