2014 Honda CR-V 2.2L Diesel · AV63 YZU

The 2014 Honda CR-V presents a stable maintenance trend, culminating in a pass at its most recent test on 26 January 2026 at 172,581 miles. The MOT record shows a peculiar anomaly on that exact date, listing both a failure and a pass with zero defects recorded. A failure without recorded defects is highly irregular and likely points to an administrative error or a same-day retest where the defect was not logged in the system. Disregarding this data quirk, the vehicle has consistently passed its annual assessments, with the 24 January 2025 test at 161,408 miles and the 29 January 2024 test at 146,737 miles also showing no defects. The trend indicates a mechanically sound vehicle that meets minimum roadworthiness standards, though the record lacks the granular detail of advisory notices that often accompany higher-mileage examples. The mileage accumulation aligns with the vehicle's age, averaging roughly 14,382 miles per year, which exceeds the national average. Between January 2024 and January 2025, the CR-V covered 14,671 miles, dropping slightly to 11,173 miles over the following twelve months leading to January 2026. This sustained high mileage suggests prolonged motorway commuting or regular long-distance use rather than short urban trips. While high mileage accelerates the wear of consumables and mechanical components, the consistent annual increments indicate the vehicle remained in regular active service without prolonged periods of inactivity that can cause deterioration of rubber components and seized mechanisms. Despite the clean MOT record, a physical inspection remains essential due to the 172,581 miles on the clock. High-mileage CR-Vs of this generation commonly suffer from worn suspension bushes, weakened coil springs, and corroded brake calipers that may bind intermittently. The tester should inspect the structural integrity of the underbody and subframes for corrosion, a frequent issue on older Honda SUVs subjected to high annual mileage. Brake discs and pads will likely be toward the end of their service life, requiring measurement of disc thickness and pad depth. The exhaust system and catalytic converter need close scrutiny for leaks or deterioration, as high-mileage units often develop cracks or blowing joints that might not always trigger an immediate emissions failure but indicate impending component replacement.
