2002 Nissan Micra 1.0L Petrol · AX02 AHF

The most recent DVSA MOT record for this Nissan Micra is a pass dated 30 September 2022, which was achieved without any recorded defects or advisories. This follows a similarly clean result from the previous year, indicating a stable maintenance trend during that period. However, it must be noted that there is a substantial gap in the official testing history between late 2022 and the current date, meaning the current roadworthiness cannot be verified by recent official documentation. The recorded mileage of 48,095 miles is remarkably low for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 2,004 miles per year over two decades. While this suggests that the internal engine components and drivetrain have experienced minimal mechanical wear, such low usage often implies the vehicle has spent extended periods stationary. This usage profile shifts the primary mechanical concern from traditional wear-and-tear to degradation caused by inactivity and age. Given the clean MOT history and low mileage, a prospective buyer should focus on the physical degradation of rubber and fluid components. It is critical to inspect the tyre sidewalls for perishing or hairline cracking, as tyres often expire due to age before the tread wears down. The braking system requires close scrutiny for binding calipers or significant surface corrosion on the brake discs, both of which are common in vehicles that stand for long intervals. During a test drive, listen for any unusual groans or clunks from the suspension, which may indicate that the suspension bushes have dried out and hardened. Further attention should be paid to the vehicle's fluid health and electrical system. Engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid degrade over time regardless of mileage, so evidence of regular calendar-based servicing in the service book is essential. The 12V battery should be tested for its ability to hold a charge, as prolonged inactivity often leads to premature failure. Finally, inspect the underbody and wheel arches for signs of corrosion, as moisture trapped during periods of standing can compromise the structural integrity of the chassis despite the low odometer reading.
