2003 Proton Impian 1.6L Petrol · AY03 JSX

The vehicle currently holds a valid roadworthiness status, though the history reveals a pattern of reactive maintenance rather than proactive care. The most recent test on 14 July 2022 passed with no defects recorded, indicating the car met the minimum legal standards at that time. However, the recurring trend of failing just days before a successful re, in both June 2021 and July 2022, suggests the previous owner only addressed mechanical faults when forced by the MOT tester rather than maintaining the vehicle through regular preventative servicing. The mileage data indicates relatively low usage for a vehicle that is over twenty three years old. The car recorded 53,818 miles in May 2020 and 61,006 miles by June 2021, representing an annual average of approximately 7,200 miles. There is a significant gap in the recorded data following the July 2022 test, with no subsequent mileage figures provided for the last four years. While the low mileage generally reduces wear on moving components, it increases the risk of age-related rubber perishation and fluid degradation which occurs regardless of distance driven. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the structural integrity, specifically checking the sills, floor pans, and wheel arches where Proton vehicles of this era are prone to hidden corrosion. Because the MOT record shows failures without specific defect descriptions, it is likely the issues involved simple items such as bulbs, wipers, or minor fluid leaks that were rectified quickly. Inspect the suspension bushes and coil springs for cracking and check the brake calipers for binding, as the low-usage pattern often leads to seized components and surface rust over long periods of inactivity.
