2003 BMW R1100 1.1L Petrol · AY03 XVX

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, evidenced by the most recent MOT pass in April 2025 at 6,535 miles where no defects were recorded. The maintenance trend appears consistent, as the motorcycle has passed all recorded inspections without major mechanical or structural failures. The lack of recurring advisories in later tests suggests that the primary components have not suffered from significant degradation during its periods of operation. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a twenty-three-year-old machine, averaging fewer than three hundred miles per year. A significant sixteen-year gap exists between the August 2009 test at 6,050 miles and the 2025 test at 6,535 miles, during which only 485 miles were covered. This indicates the vehicle likely spent long periods stationary rather than being used regularly. While the 2008 failure for a worn rear tyre at 5,937 miles shows a minor consumable issue, the overall history aligns with low-usage patterns. A physical inspection must focus on the risks associated with long-term storage rather than mechanical wear. The buyer should check for perished rubber components, specifically fuel lines, brake hoses, and fork seals, which often crack when age outpaces mileage. The brake discs should be examined for pitting or corrosion, and the tyres must be checked for flat spotting or hardening. Given the low mileage, the drivetrain and suspension bushes should be in good condition, provided the fluids have not degraded or contaminated during the extended intervals of non-use.
