2017 Mercedes-Benz Citan 1.5L Diesel · AY17 ULL

The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 2 June 2025 at 141,465 miles confirms it remains roadworthy without any recorded defects, suggesting a stable maintenance pattern over the past three cycles. The absence of advisories or failures across all four tests indicates no recurring mechanical issues that would imply neglect or impending failure. However, the lack of defects does not preclude wear beyond MOT thresholds—components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers may still require inspection, as these are not routinely tested unless visibly failing. The mileage progression reveals a consistent annual average of approximately 15,700 miles, which is elevated for a vehicle of this age. Between the May 2022 and May 2023 tests, the odometer jumped by 30,495 miles in just over a year, a rate that accelerates wear on high-stress parts such as drivetrain components, exhaust systems, and brake assemblies. The most recent test occurred just over a year ago, which is within the standard MOT validity period, but given the high mileage, a pre-purchase inspection should prioritise components that degrade at this usage level. Given the clean MOT history, the primary focus of an in-person inspection should centre on suspension integrity—particularly the condition of rear suspension bushes and coil springs, which are prone to fatigue at this mileage. Binding or uneven brake calipers, often a symptom of worn guide pins or seized components, should be checked for drag or uneven wear on the discs. The high mileage also warrants scrutiny of the exhaust system for corrosion or leaks, particularly around joints and underbody mounts, as well as the structural integrity of the chassis rails and wheel arches for signs of rust penetration. While the MOT record provides reassurance on major failures, these areas demand closer examination to confirm they remain within safe operational limits.
