2019 Vauxhall Astra 1.4L Petrol · BN69 TVW

The 2019 Vauxhall Astra presents a fully clean MOT record with zero advisories or failures across all four recorded tests. The most recent examination, conducted on 23 April 2026 at 25,126 miles, passed with no defects whatsoever. This establishes a stable and improving maintenance trend, with no recurring faults or developing mechanical concerns visible in the official DVSA data. The vehicle has consistently met roadworthiness standards throughout its life, suggesting attentive ownership and no deferred repairs. The mileage profile is notably low for a seven-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 3,589 miles per year. The record shows a significant gap between the October 2022 test at 4,187 miles and the July 2023 test at 5,075 miles, representing only 888 miles in approximately nine months. A much sharper accumulation followed, with the car covering 13,635 miles between July 2023 and May 2025, then a further 6,416 miles by April 2026. This pattern suggests a period of very light use or possible standing, followed by more regular driving. Such irregular usage can cause its own issues, including brake disc surface corrosion, tyre flat-spotting, and dried seals, even when mileage remains low overall. Despite the clean paperwork, a buyer should still conduct a thorough physical inspection. Low-mileage vehicles that stand for extended periods can develop binding brake calipers, perished rubber bushes, and localised corrosion on exhaust components and suspension arms that a single MOT pass does not guarantee against. The Astra's MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear setup are generally robust, but worn drop links and top mount bushings often manifest as subtle knocks rather than failing an MOT threshold. A road test over varied surfaces remains essential. Tyre condition warrants particular attention given the irregular mileage pattern. Uneven wear, sidewall cracking, or date codes older than five years would indicate replacement is due regardless of remaining tread depth. Brake disc thickness and pad condition should be measured rather than assumed, as infrequent use can lead to surface rust that temporarily affects braking efficiency after long standing periods. The clean MOT history is encouraging, but it reflects a snapshot in time, not a guarantee of current mechanical condition.
