2003 Lotus Elise 1.8L Petrol · BU53 KVV

The vehicle presents a high level of roadworthiness with a consistently clean MOT history over the last five years. The most recent test on 10 June 2026 at 46,575 miles passed with no defects or advisories recorded. This streak of clean passes dating back to 2022 indicates a stable mechanical condition where the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that avoids failures in structural integrity or safety systems. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a vehicle from 2003, averaging approximately 2,000 miles per year. Between June 2022 and June 2026, the car covered 10,997 miles, showing a steady but modest usage profile rather than long periods of abandonment. This low mileage suggests the drivetrain and engine components have not undergone the mechanical wear typical of high-mileage examples. However, long periods of standing between tests can sometimes lead to age-related degradation of rubber components and fluid breakdown which are not always captured in a stationary test. Despite the lack of recorded MOT advisories, a buyer must conduct a physical inspection focusing on components prone to age-related failure in low-mileage cars. Check for cracking in suspension bushes, perished tyre sidewalls, and perished hoses that may have degraded through time rather than use. The chassis should be inspected for corrosion in key mounting points, as the MOT test only identifies structural rust once it reaches a threshold of failure. Ensure the brake calipers are not seized from disuse, which is a common issue for vehicles driven infrequently.
