1973 Bond BUG 0.8L Petrol · BUG 65C

An exceptionally low usage profile defines this vehicle, with the most recent MOT pass on 21 August 2024 showing no recorded defects. The testing history across the two most recent inspections in 2023 and 2024 indicates a consistent pattern of passing without any flagged advisories or mechanical failures. This suggests that the components inspected during these specific tests met the required standards for roadworthiness at the time of examination. The recorded mileage of 682 miles is remarkably low for a vehicle of this age, representing an average accumulation of approximately 13 miles per year over its 53-year lifespan. Such minimal usage typically indicates that the vehicle has spent significant periods stationary or is used only for very infrequent, short-distance trips. Mechanically, while this results in minimal wear on drivetrain components, friction materials, and suspension bushings, it also means the vehicle has not been subjected to the regular mechanical cycling that prevents certain types of degradation associated with long-term storage. Given the lack of recorded defects or advisories, a physical inspection should focus on components that may be affected by infrequent use rather than high mileage. During a test drive, pay close attention to the operation of the braking system to ensure there is no binding of the calipers or uneven pedal feel, as components can occasionally seize when left undisturbed. Listen for any irregular noises from the suspension linkages or steering assembly when navigating uneven surfaces, as rubber components can perish or harden over time regardless of the distance travelled. Further attention should be directed toward the integrity of fluid-carrying components and the presence of any weeping from seals or gaskets. While the MOT records show no current issues, the low annual mileage necessitates a close check for any signs of fluid leaks or corrosion on exposed metal surfaces that may have developed during periods of inactivity. Ensuring that all electrical connections and lighting systems are fully operational is also essential, as these are common areas of concern for vehicles with such limited operational history.
