2008 Ford Transit 2.4L Diesel · BX08 FKH

The roadworthiness of this Ford Transit remains questionable due to a recurring pattern of immediate failures following successful passes. While the most recent test on 28 September 2023 at 174,697 miles resulted in a failure with no specific defects listed in the summary, the historical data shows a vehicle that consistently struggles to pass on the first attempt. The maintenance trend is stable in its reactive nature rather than proactive, suggesting the owner only addresses the bare minimum requirements to secure a roadworthiness certificate rather than following a preventative service schedule. The mileage profile is consistent with an eighteen-year-old commercial vehicle, averaging approximately 9,700 miles per annum. Between October 2021 and October 2022, the vehicle covered 27,825 miles, indicating a period of high usage compared to its lifetime average. Conversely, the interval between the October 2022 test and September 2023 test saw another 28,188 miles recorded. This consistent high-mileage suggests the vehicle is under significant strain on the drivetrain and suspension components, yet the high failure rate during these intervals indicates that parts are likely reaching the end of their functional life. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the structural integrity and chassis, as these are common failure points for this generation of Transit. The record shows failures occurring just days after a pass in 2021 and 2022, which often points to minor mechanical adjustments, bulbs, or emissions issues that were overlooked or poorly rectified. Focus attention on corrosion around the rear spring mounting points, brake lines, and the condition of the suspension bushes. Given the mileage and the history of repeated failures, the risk of imminent mechanical wear on consumables and components is high without a comprehensive mechanical survey.
