2014 Vauxhall Meriva 1.4L Petrol · BX64 YCL

The 2014 Vauxhall Meriva presents a clean and stable maintenance trend, with the most recent MOT conducted on 9 March 2026 at 39,800 miles passing with zero defects recorded. This marks five consecutive passes without advisories or failures, indicating consistent upkeep and no emerging mechanical or structural concerns over the last four years. The mileage accumulation is notably low for a vehicle of this age, averaging roughly 3,317 miles per year over its twelve-year life. Between the September 2022 test at 24,084 miles and the March 2026 test at 39,800 miles, the car covered 15,716 miles across nearly three and a half years, suggesting a shift toward slightly more regular use in recent years after a period of very light driving. The gap between the August 2025 test at 37,411 miles and the March 2026 test at 39,800 miles shows 2,389 miles covered in just under seven months, which is a modest but steady rate. Despite the clean MOT record, a buyer should still inspect the underside for surface corrosion on suspension mounting points, subframes, and brake lines, as low-mileage vehicles that stand for extended periods can develop rust even without triggering an MOT failure. The tyres and rubber suspension bushes deserve close attention, since infrequent use can cause perishing and flat-spotting that MOT testers may not flag unless performance is directly affected. Brake discs and calipers should also be checked for uneven wear or binding, particularly if the car has spent long periods parked. The exhaust system and DPF, if fitted, warrant a brief road test under load to confirm the engine reaches operating temperature and regenerates properly, as short-trip use can cause carbon buildup that a stationary MOT check would not reveal. Overall, the record suggests a well-maintained vehicle with no recurring faults, but the low annual mileage pattern means age-related deterioration on rubber, seals, and corrosion-prone areas remains a more relevant risk than mechanical wear from high use.
