The vehicle’s most recent MOT test occurred on 2025-06-04, just over a year ago, and it passed without any recorded defects. This suggests the car remains roadworthy for now, though the history reveals an unusual pattern of repeated failures at the same test dates—both 2023-04-26 and 2024-06-05 show a pass followed immediately by a fail, which is highly irregular and not standard practice. The absence of any advisories or defects in the passing tests implies the tester did not identify any serious issues, yet the repeated failures at identical intervals raise suspicion of either administrative error or a deliberate attempt to bypass proper inspection. Without further context, the most plausible explanation is that the vehicle was not actually tested during those failed entries, which would indicate either a data anomaly or non-compliance with MOT regulations. The recorded mileage of 14,122 miles over approximately 27 years equates to an average of around 523 miles per year, which is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age. This suggests the car has spent prolonged periods stationary, likely stored rather than actively used. The most recent MOT-to-date gap is 14 months, which is acceptable but leaves a window where minor issues could have developed undetected. The lack of mileage progression between tests—particularly the identical dates for failures—further supports the idea that the vehicle may not have been driven between inspections, making it difficult to assess wear patterns accurately. Given the irregular MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension components, particularly the bushes and coil springs, as these are common failure points in older vehicles with low mileage but potential long-term neglect. The repeated failures at the same dates also warrant scrutiny of the braking system, including caliper binding, brake disc thickness, and master cylinder condition, as these are frequently tested elements. Structural integrity should be assessed for corrosion, particularly around the wheel arches, sills, and subframe, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from rust progression rather than mechanical wear. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions should be checked for leaks or excessive smoke, as these are often overlooked in lightly used cars but can indicate deeper issues if ignored.
