1986 Kawasaki VN750 0.7L Petrol · C941 CPR

A remarkably consistent string of straightforward annual passes characterises the roadworthiness history of this vintage motorcycle, culminating in a successful test on the first of November 2024. Across eight recorded examinations spanning from April 2015 to late 2024, the machine has never suffered a single MOT failure, with defects kept to an absolute minimum throughout its modern testing life. This stable record indicates a machine that has consistently met baseline statutory safety standards during its test appointments, though the sparse advisory notes require careful scrutiny of specific mechanical interfaces. Official DVSA records list the recorded mileage as unknown, and there is not enough historical data to map annual accumulation rates or verify long-term usage patterns against the 1986 registration date. Without a reliable chronological mileage progression, it is impossible to determine whether the machine has spent extended periods in storage or if the speedometer has been replaced or disconnected over its decades on the road. Consequently, prospective buyers must evaluate the physical wear on footpegs, handlebar grips, and engine casings rather than relying on digital odometer figures to gauge the true extent of the motorcycle's mechanical life. The 2024 test noted that the nearside horn button is fitted on the nearside of the motorcycle rather than the standard position on the handlebars, an ergonomic deviation that should be tested for accessibility while maneuvering in traffic. Furthermore, a previous examination in May 2020 flagged slight free play in the steering head bearings. During the pre-purchase inspection and static test ride, the steering head must be checked thoroughly for notched movement, resistance, or knocking when applying the front brake and rocking the machine back and forth. Given the age of this Kawasaki, attention must also be paid to the general condition of the electrical system, fuel delivery components, and structural frame integrity, which are not always fully captured by basic MOT testing criteria. Listen closely for any untoward mechanical noises from the V-twin engine during cold starting and idle, and verify that all switches, lighting circuits, and suspension damping operate correctly without excessive fluid weeping from the fork seals or rear dampers. A comprehensive physical inspection of the chassis and exhaust system for hidden corrosion is essential before committing to purchase.
