2022 BMW M240I Xdrive Auto 3.0L Petrol · CC72 PAC

The 2022 BMW M240i XDrive Auto’s latest DVSA MOT test on 2025-12-05 resulted in a clean pass with no recorded defects, and the vehicle’s maintenance history remains entirely unblemished up to that point. Given the absence of any prior MOT failures or advisories, the overall maintenance trend for this car is stable and consistent, suggesting that the owner has adhered to a disciplined approach to vehicle upkeep. The lack of historical issues implies that the vehicle’s fundamental roadworthiness has not been compromised by neglect or recurring mechanical failures, though the absence of data does not guarantee future reliability without proactive checks. The recorded mileage of 15,541 miles for a vehicle aged approximately four years represents a notably low annual usage rate of around 3,885 miles per annum. Such low mileage can indicate either light or intermittent use, potentially including long periods of the vehicle being stationary. Mechanically, this usage profile may have implications for certain components that are prone to degradation from prolonged inactivity, such as brake systems, suspension components, and fluids. For instance, standing brake discs can develop corrosion or binding calipers due to rust formation, while suspension bushes and coil springs may stiffen or degrade if not regularly cycled. Additionally, fluids like brake fluid, differential oil, and coolant can degrade over time when not circulated, risking system inefficiency or failure if not replaced. Given the clean MOT history and low recorded mileage, the prospective buyer should conduct a thorough physical inspection to address potential issues arising from the vehicle’s usage profile. Start with the tyres, paying close attention to the sidewalls for signs of cracking, perishing, or dry rot, which can compromise structural integrity and safety, particularly in older vehicles. The brake system should be scrutinised for any signs of corrosion on discs and linings, or for unusual noises such as grinding or squeaking, which could indicate binding or wear. Inspect the suspension for play or excessive clunking when moving over bumps, which may suggest worn suspension bushes or damaged coil springs. The battery should be checked for corrosion around terminals and tested for charge capacity, as a low or failing 12V battery can lead to starting issues or electrical system failures. For fluid servicing, the buyer should verify that time-based replacements have been carried out, particularly for the coolant system, which may have sat unused for extended periods, and the brake fluid, which can absorb moisture and degrade over time. The differential oil and transmission fluid should also be checked for contamination or sludge, especially if the vehicle has been stationary for prolonged periods. Finally, a test drive should be undertaken to listen for any unusual noises from the drivetrain, exhaust system, or steering, and to observe for performance anomalies such as excessive vibration, pulling, or reduced acceleration. If any of these issues are detected, further diagnostic work should be undertaken promptly to prevent potential mechanical failure or safety hazards.
