2003 Fiat Doblo Cargo 1.9L Diesel · CF03 HRU

A critical five-year void in the MOT history defines the current mechanical status of this vehicle, as no testing has been recorded since the clean pass on 14 October 2021. While the last available record showed no defects, the absence of any roadworthiness certification for nearly half a decade means the current condition of the chassis and mechanical systems is entirely unverified. This gap represents a significant risk, as the vehicle has transitioned from a documented state of roadworthiness to an unknown condition. The recorded mileage of 102,476 miles is notably low for a twenty-three-year-old commercial vehicle, averaging approximately 4,455 miles per year. This low accumulation rate, combined with the prolonged absence of MOT tests, indicates a pattern of extended periods of inactivity. Mechanically, such usage profiles often lead to the degradation of rubber components and the seizing of moving parts, which differs significantly from the wear-and-tear associated with high-mileage, constant-use vehicles. Given the multi-year lay-up, a physical inspection must prioritise the structural integrity of the chassis and subframe, as moisture trapped during long periods of standing can accelerate corrosion in these areas. During a test drive, pay close attention to the operation of the braking system; listen for any grinding or sticking sounds that would indicate binding calipers or heavily corroded brake discs. Any pulsation through the brake pedal or a lack of immediate response should be viewed as a primary concern. Further attention should be directed toward the suspension and steering linkages, which are prone to perishing or seizing after years of disuse. Listen for knocks or clunks when driving over uneven surfaces, which would suggest failed suspension bushes or worn ball joints. Additionally, check for any signs of oil misting or leaks around the engine and gearbox seals, as gaskets can shrink and fail when the vehicle is not regularly operated to maintain lubrication.
