2011 Toyota RAV4 2.0L Diesel · CV61 DVJ

The 2011 Toyota RAV4 presents a consistently clean MOT record, with the most recent test on 9 October 2025 at 68,126 miles passing without a single defect or advisory. This marks five consecutive annual tests with no faults recorded, demonstrating a stable and well-maintained vehicle. The absence of any recurring mechanical or structural issues across the documented history indicates that core systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, emissions, and structural integrity, have remained within acceptable tolerances year on year. For a vehicle of this age, such a clean record is uncommon and suggests attentive ownership. The mileage accumulation tells a story of light use. Between September 2021 and October 2025, the car covered just 14,511 miles across four full years of testing, averaging approximately 3,628 miles annually. The most recent interval, from October 2024 to October 2025, saw only 1,786 miles added, confirming a pattern of very low annual usage. There are no sudden mileage jumps or suspicious gaps that would suggest odometer tampering or prolonged inactivity between tests. The recorded figures progress logically and consistently, supporting the conclusion that this RAV4 has been used sparingly, likely for short local journeys rather than sustained motorway driving. Despite the flawless MOT history, a prospective buyer should carry out a thorough physical inspection focusing on components that deteriorate with age and low usage rather than mileage. Tyres, for instance, may show cracking or perishing of the sidewalls even with ample tread remaining, as rubber degrades over time regardless of use. Brake discs and pads can surface-corrode when a vehicle sits for extended periods, particularly on the rear axle where the parking brake mechanism is prone to seizing. Suspension bushes may have hardened or split due to age, and the exhaust system should be examined for corrosion, especially around welds and joints where condensation accumulates during short trips that never fully warm the system. The underbody and structural mounting points warrant close scrutiny for corrosion, as low-mileage vehicles that spend time stationary can develop surface rust on subframes, sills, and suspension components. The condition of the coolant, brake fluid, and engine oil should be verified, as infrequent use can lead to moisture contamination and fluid degradation even when mileage remains low. A short test drive will reveal whether the clutch, gearbox, and steering operate smoothly and whether any suspension noise or brake judder has developed since the October 2025 test. Overall, the MOT record strongly supports the vehicle's mechanical soundness, but age-related deterioration remains a factor that no paperwork alone can fully rule out.
