2004 Vauxhall Astra 1.8L Petrol · CX54 PDO

The 2004 Vauxhall Astra presents a stable roadworthiness profile with no active defects. The most recent test on 10 June 2025 at 93,520 miles returned a clean pass, continuing an unbroken sequence of satisfactory results since July 2022. The maintenance trend is steady rather than worsening, with no advisories or mechanical faults logged across the available record. Recorded mileage sits at 93,520 against an approximate 22-year lifespan, equating to roughly 4,250 miles per year. The car covered only 865 miles between the June 2024 and June 2025 tests, and 1,456 miles across the prior year. Such low annual use implies light running or extended standing periods. The DVSA data shows no gaps exceeding twelve months and no sudden accumulation, though the single failed test on 13 June 2023 at 91,199 miles was rectified and passed the next day with no defects noted, suggesting an administrative or minor pre-check issue rather than a mechanical defect. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and subframe corrosion given the vehicle's age and likely dormant intervals. Low mileage Vauxhalls of this era commonly develop perishing rubber mounts and hidden structural rust where moisture settles. The brake discs and calipers warrant measurement for binding or uneven wear from infrequent use. The clean MOT history offers reasonable assurance of statutory compliance, but it does not certify component condition beyond test-day thresholds. Prior owners clearly kept the car taxed and tested on schedule, yet the sparse record leaves consumable and structural health unverified between annual examinations.
