1986 Honda C90 0.1L Petrol · D554 LFX

The 1986 Honda C90 presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend, confirmed by the most recent test on 18 November 2024 at 40,228 miles where the tester recorded no defects. Prior examinations on 29 September 2023 at 40,085 miles and 17 June 2022 at 39,065 miles also passed cleanly. The only blemish is a failed test on 16 June 2022 at 39,060 miles, reversed the next day with a pass and no defects logged either time, suggesting a clerical or presentation issue rather than a mechanical fault. The recorded mileage of 40,228 against a 40-year lifespan equates to roughly 1,006 miles per year, indicating light use throughout the machine's life. Between June 2022 and September 2023 the bike covered just 1,020 miles, then only 143 miles to November 2024. Such low annual accumulation points to a vehicle kept largely in storage, with long standing periods that can permit corrosion or perished rubber components despite the clean test sheets. A buyer should still inspect the C90 in person for structural rust on the frame and exhaust, as MOT passes at low mileage do not rule out surface degradation from damp storage. The front fork seals, wheel bearings, and brake shoes warrant hands-on checks for stiffness or binding after years of minimal movement. Given the absence of recorded advisories across all tests, no recurring wear trend emerges, but the 1986 vintage means consumables like tyres, control cables, and the drive chain may have aged beyond safe limits without triggering a failure. A physical appraisal of suspension bushes and electrical condition remains prudent before purchase.
