1986 Rover 3500 3.5L Petrol · D583 NKW

The 1986 Rover 3500 presents a clean roadworthiness status. The most recent test on 27 August 2025 at 60,954 miles passed with no defects recorded, and the maintenance trend is stable across all available entries. Every annual examination from 3 August 2022 through to 2025 returned a pass with no advisories, showing the vehicle has avoided recurring mechanical or structural faults. Mileage accumulation is exceptionally low for a 40-year-old car. The records show 59,049 miles at the 2022 test, rising to just 60,954 by August 2025, a total of 1,905 miles over three years or about 635 miles per year. Such figures indicate long periods of storage rather than daily use, and the clean history with no flagged corrosion or worn suspension bushes suggests the previous keepers maintained it without pushing the drivetrain or consumables hard. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of structural integrity and underbody condition. Low-use classics often develop hidden rust in sills, subframes, and floor pans while standing, even when MOT tests show no defects. The brake discs, calipers, and suspension components should be checked for seizure or perishing from inactivity, as the tester cannot flag internal binding that has not yet surfaced. Given the absence of any advisories on tyres, exhaust emissions, or steering joints across the four tests, basic upkeep appears consistent. The Rover's recorded care pattern implies a cautious owner, but pre-purchase scrutiny of rubber bushings and fuel system condition remains warranted on a vehicle of this age.
