2002 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · DA51 JHF

The 2002 Toyota Yaris presents a stable roadworthiness trend with no active defects. The most recent test on 1 February 2024 at 90,210 miles returned a pass with no advisories recorded, confirming the vehicle held a clean mechanical status at that point. Prior tests in 2021 and 2022 also passed without defects, showing no worsening pattern across the available history. The recorded mileage of 90,210 against a 24-year lifespan equates to a low average of roughly 3,759 miles per year. The gap between the 4 November 2021 test at 76,382 miles and the 21 November 2022 test at 80,098 miles shows only 3,716 miles covered in thirteen months. A same-day fail and pass on 21 November 2022 at 80,094 and 80,098 miles with no defects logged points to an administrative or minor pre-test correction rather than a mechanical fault. The sparse, clean record gives little evidence of neglected consumables or deferred structural repairs. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs given the vehicle's age and likely periods of standing. Low use over two decades can allow corrosion to develop on structural members and underbody seams even where the MOT logged no advisories. The absence of flagged exhaust emissions or binding calipers in the record is reassuring but does not exempt the car from age-related degradation. Verify the 21 November 2022 fail reason with DVSA archives despite the no-defect entry, as the rapid re-test suggests a paperwork anomaly worth clarifying. Otherwise, the Yaris shows a consistent, low-mileage upkeep profile that reflects responsible ownership rather than deferred maintenance.
