2017 Ford Kuga 2.0L Diesel · DC66 DZW

The vehicle presents a stable maintenance profile based on the available MOT history, though it shows a transition from minor consumable issues to more specific mechanical wear. The most recent test on 16 November 2022 at 65,528 miles resulted in a pass, but the tester flagged several advisories including a defective offside front wiper blade, nails in two tyres, and worn trailing arm bushes on both the nearside and offside rear. While these issues were noted rather than failed, they indicate that the vehicle is entering a phase where suspension components and tyres require more frequent attention. The mileage accumulation is consistent with a typical usage pattern for a 2017 vehicle. The car covered approximately 12,382 miles between the November 2021 test and the November 2022 test, which aligns with the overall average of roughly 7,281 miles per year. There are no significant gaps in the testing frequency, with annual inspections occurring reliably since 2019. This steady usage suggests the vehicle has not been sitting idle for extended periods, which helps mitigate risks of perished rubber components or seized brake components. A prospective buyer should prioritise a physical inspection of the rear suspension assembly. The 2022 advisory regarding worn trailing arm bushes suggests that the rubber components are degrading, a common issue that can lead to increased noise and compromised handling if left unaddressed. Given that the 2019 failure involved pitted and scored rear brake discs, a thorough check of the current braking system is necessary to ensure the discs and pads have been adequately replaced and are not showing signs of premature corrosion or uneven wear. Tyre condition also warrants close scrutiny. The history shows a recurring pattern of tyre-related issues, ranging from a cut reaching the cords in October 2019 to nails in the rear tyres in November 2022. While these are often the result of road debris, the frequency suggests the owner may be reactive rather than proactive regarding tyre maintenance. Checking the remaining tread depth and looking for sidewall cracking will confirm if the current set is nearing the end of its serviceable life.
