1979 Ford Unknown 2.5L Diesel · DHN 869T

The vehicle currently holds a stable roadworthiness status based on the most recent MOT test on 5 November 2024. This test resulted in a clean pass at 39,824 miles with no defects or advisories recorded. The preceding test on 2 November 2023 also passed without any noted faults, indicating a consistent level of mechanical compliance over the last two years. The mileage is exceptionally low for a 1979 model, averaging roughly 847 miles per year. Between November 2023 and November 2024, the odometer increased by only 31 miles. Such minimal usage suggests the vehicle has spent significant periods standing rather than being driven regularly. While the lack of wear on the drivetrain is a positive, long-term dormancy often introduces specific risks to rubber components and fluid integrity. A buyer should prioritise a physical inspection of the braking system and suspension. Low-mileage classics frequently suffer from binding calipers or perished suspension bushes due to inactivity. Check for signs of corrosion on the chassis and sills, as the MOT record does not provide a detailed structural history beyond the binary pass result. Verify the condition of the tyres and all rubber hoses. Even if the tread remains deep, the rubber may have hardened or developed cracks over the decades. Ensure the fuel system is free from varnish and the engine oil is fresh, as the stagnant mileage pattern suggests the car may require a comprehensive recommissioning of its fluids and seals before regular road use.
