Corrosion in the rear suspension mounting areas and recurring issues with coil spring degradation represent the primary mechanical concerns for this vehicle. The most recent MOT test on 09 January 2026 shows a pass, but it follows a failure on the same date due to a non-functional offside front position lamp and main beam headlamp. The recorded history reveals a worsening trend regarding structural and suspension components, with advisories for nearside and offside rear suspension component mounting corrosion appearing in the latest report, alongside continued corrosion on the nearside rear coil spring. The vehicle has covered 136,691 miles over its 24-year lifespan, which averages to approximately 5,695 miles per year. This is a relatively low annual mileage for a vehicle of this age. While lower mileage can suggest less frequent mechanical wear on drivetrain components, the MOT history indicates that the vehicle has been subject to progressive environmental degradation, specifically regarding the chassis and suspension. The combination of low usage and the presence of corrosion on mounting points and brake pipes suggests that the vehicle may be susceptible to moisture retention or has experienced periods of inactivity that allow surface oxidation to progress. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the rear underside of the vehicle, specifically the nearside and offside rear suspension component mounting areas. The 2026 advisory notes corrosion in these prescribed areas, which is a significant factor for long-term structural integrity. During a test drive, listen for any knocking, clunking, or metallic banging sounds when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps, as these can indicate that the corroded mounting points or the corroded nearside rear coil spring are affecting suspension geometry or stability. Further inspection is required regarding the braking system and electrical components. The record shows a persistent advisory for a corroded offside rear brake pipe, which was noted as being covered in grease or other material in 2024 and 2023. Check for any changes in brake pedal feel, such as sponginess or a pulsing sensation, which could indicate further degradation of the hydraulic lines. Additionally, the latest test flagged flickering dashboard display lamps, so verify that all instrument illumination is consistent and that there are no intermittent electrical faults affecting the driver's visibility of critical gauges.
