2003 Honda Civic 1.4L Petrol · DV03 FVS

The 2003 Honda Civic’s most recent MOT test on 2025-12-06—just six months ago—shows no defects recorded despite two separate tests on the same day at 134,810 miles. This suggests the vehicle passed all mandatory checks for brakes, suspension, steering, emissions, and structural integrity at that stage. The absence of advisories or recurring failures in the last three annual tests (2023-01-04, 2023-12-13, and 2024-12-21) indicates a stable maintenance pattern with no obvious worsening trends. However, the duplicate test date implies either a retest after a minor oversight or a deliberate double-check, which could hint at uncertainty in the vehicle’s condition at that mileage. The recorded mileage of 134,810 miles over 23 years equates to approximately 5,861 miles annually, which is unusually low for a vehicle of this age. This suggests prolonged periods of inactivity or very light use, potentially reducing wear on high-mileage components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and drivetrain seals. The gap between tests is consistent, with roughly 12,000 to 13,000 miles between each MOT, reinforcing a pattern of regular servicing. There are no red flags in the mileage progression, but the low annual mileage may mask underlying issues that could have developed over time without regular driving stress. Given the lack of recorded defects, a buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of the suspension for worn or cracked bushes and coil springs, particularly around the rear axle where binding calipers or uneven wear might have gone unnoticed. The brakes, though not failed, should be scrutinised for excessive disc thickness variation or glazed pads, as the low mileage could mean uneven wear patterns. Structural integrity is less likely to be compromised at this stage, but a thorough check for corrosion at wheel arches, sills, and subframe mounts is advisable, especially if the vehicle has spent extended periods stationary. Emissions systems, while not failed, may require verification if the car has been infrequently driven, as catalytic converters can degrade passively over time.
