2002 Ford Fiesta 1.3L Petrol · DV52 ABX

The vehicle presents a questionable roadworthiness status due to a lack of recent certification and inconsistent testing patterns. While the most recent test in June 2023 at 131,532 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, the preceding history shows a trend of reactive maintenance. The failure in June 2022 occurring just one day after a previous pass suggests either a rushed inspection or a clerical oversight by the tester, yet the absence of an MOT for the following three years indicates a lapse in proactive mechanical oversight. At 24 years old, the recorded mileage of 131,532 miles represents an average of approximately 5,480 miles per year. However, the data reveals a significant spike in usage between June 2022 and June 2023, where the car covered nearly 30,000 miles in a single year. This rapid accumulation of mileage contrasts with long periods of inactivity, which often leads to the degradation of rubber components, such as suspension bushes and brake lines, and potential corrosion on brake discs, despite the low overall annual average. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the structural integrity, specifically focusing on the sills and rear wheel arches where these Fiestas are notoriously prone to structural rust. Given the high-mileage year recorded in 2023, check for signs of perished shocks and worn suspension components. The lack of an MOT record for the last three years means the current state of the exhaust emissions and braking hydraulic pressure has not been verified by a qualified tester for a significant period.
