The latest MOT test on 16 July 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, continuing a consistent trend of clean passes in 2025 and 2023. This indicates a stable maintenance history with no recurring or worsening issues flagged by the DVSA, suggesting the vehicle has been kept in a roadworthy condition over the past few years. With a recorded mileage of just 1,092 miles over approximately ten years, the annual usage averages around 109 miles per year. This extremely low mileage strongly suggests prolonged periods of inactivity, which can lead to its own set of mechanical concerns despite the minimal wear on moving parts. Given the age and low usage, a thorough inspection should focus on the effects of standing. Check the tyres for sidewall cracking or perishing, as rubber degrades over time regardless of mileage. Examine the brake discs for surface corrosion or pitting, and ensure the calipers are not binding, as these can seize after extended periods of disuse. The 12V battery is also a critical point, as low usage often leads to deep discharge and reduced lifespan. Verify the battery’s health and charge condition, and look for signs of fluid leaks or degradation, particularly in the coolant, brake fluid, and engine oil, as these can deteriorate with time even if the vehicle has covered few miles. Additionally, inspect the suspension components for corrosion or seized bushes, and test the exhaust system for rust or holes that may not yet have triggered an MOT failure but could soon require attention. Confirm the service history is up to date, as time-based servicing is just as important as mileage-based for a vehicle of this age. A test drive should include listening for unusual noises from the suspension or drivetrain and assessing the responsiveness of the brakes and steering, which may feel stiff or sluggish after long periods of inactivity.
