2017 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Diesel · DX17 BUU

The Vauxhall Astra has demonstrated a stable roadworthiness trend over the past year, with two consecutive MOT passes in August and October 2024 at 92,905 and 92,908 miles respectively. No defects were recorded during either test, indicating the vehicle cleared all mandatory checks for brakes, suspension, steering, lights, emissions, and structural integrity. The most recent test, just under nine months ago, suggests the car remains compliant with current UK roadworthiness standards. However, the absence of advisories or minor faults in these records does not preclude hidden wear—buyers should verify critical components independently. The recorded mileage of 92,908 miles over nine years aligns with typical usage patterns for this model, averaging around 10,300 miles annually. There are no significant gaps or abrupt spikes in mileage between the two recent MOTs, as the vehicle accrued just 3 miles in the intervening two months. This consistency implies regular, moderate use rather than neglect or excessive wear. The lack of earlier MOT data makes it impossible to assess long-term maintenance habits, but the recent history shows no red flags in mileage progression. Given the clean MOT record, priority should be given to inspecting high-wear components that are not routinely tested. The suspension—particularly coil springs, bushes, and dampers—should be checked for uneven wear or excessive play, as these are not always flagged in MOTs unless they fail safety-critical checks. Brake discs and pads, while passed in the last tests, may require closer examination for uneven wear or binding calipers, which can develop between MOT intervals. Structural corrosion, especially around wheel arches, sills, and the subframe, is another critical area; rust can compromise wheel bearings or suspension mounts without immediate MOT failure. Finally, verify the condition of the exhaust system for leaks or damage, as emissions compliance was not explicitly noted in the records.
