2022 Fiat 500 Dolcevita Mhev 1.0L Petrol · EF71 AAZ

The Fiat 500 Dolcevita MHEV presents a clean MOT history over its recent testing cycle, with both the September 2024 and September 2025 examinations returning a full pass at 12,264 and 19,809 miles respectively. No advisories or defects were recorded in either test, indicating stable mechanical condition and no signs of recurring issues. The absence of even minor advisories—such as worn tyres, suspension wear, or fluid leaks—suggests the vehicle has either been well-maintained or operated under very light conditions. For a buyer, this level of consistency is rare in a four-year-old hybrid, though the low mileage complicates a full assessment of long-term component durability. The recorded mileage of 19,809 miles over four years—roughly 4,952 miles annually—is exceptionally low for a city car of this age, particularly one equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The gap between tests (1,545 miles in just over a year) implies either infrequent use, extended periods of inactivity, or a combination of both. Such low mileage reduces wear on consumables like brakes, tyres, and clutch components, but it also means critical systems—such as the hybrid battery, electric motor, and regenerative braking—have not been subjected to the typical operational stresses. Without a longer history, it’s impossible to confirm whether the hybrid elements have degraded prematurely due to disuse, though the MOT records offer no cause for concern on that front. Given the sparse but flawless MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of hybrid-specific components, as these are less commonly checked in standard MOTs. The electric motor and inverter should be assessed for any signs of overheating or unusual noise, while the high-voltage battery’s cooling system and connections must be verified for corrosion or damage. Mechanical checks should extend to the suspension—particularly the coil springs and anti-roll bars—given the car’s light use may have allowed latent wear to develop. Brakes, despite the clean MOT, should be tested for binding or uneven wear, as hybrids often exhibit different friction material characteristics. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions controls warrant scrutiny, as prolonged inactivity can lead to carbon buildup or sensor drift, even if the MOT passed without issue.
