2005 Vauxhall Corsa 1.0L Petrol · EK05 YZP

The vehicle remains currently roadworthy, though the maintenance trend shows a recent shift toward developing suspension wear. In the most recent test in January 2026 at 48,958 miles, the tester identified a severely deteriorated nearside front anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover. This is a recurring issue, having appeared previously in the January 2025 test at 45,877 miles where the same defect was noted alongside a minor injury to the nearside front tyre outer wall. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 2,331 miles per year. Between 2022 and 2024, the Corsa covered only 1,736 miles, resulting in clean MOT records with no recorded defects. However, the jump of 6,455 miles covered between 2024 and 2026 suggests a recent increase in usage. This low-mileage often leads to the degradation of rubber-based components and seizing of mechanical parts due to inactivity rather than mechanical strain. A buyer must conduct a physical inspection of the nearside front suspension to ensure the anti-roll bar linkage is replaced, as the persistent dust cover failure indicates imminent joint play. Given the vehicle's age and low annual mileage, a close check for structural corrosion on the chassis and sills is essential, which often affects cars that sit stationary. Additionally, verify the brake discs and calipers are not seized, as low-use vehicles frequently suffer from surface pitting on the braking surfaces.
