2016 Volkswagen Passat 1.6L Diesel · EY66 FKN

The maintenance trend for this 2016 Volkswagen Passat is exceptionally stable, reflecting a well-kept vehicle with no significant mechanical or structural deterioration. The most recent MOT test on 3 September 2025 at 67,989 miles passed with zero defects, mirroring the completely clean records from the preceding three years. Although this test is approaching its first anniversary, the historical consistency inspires confidence. A single failed test on 2 September 2022 at 38,560 miles appears to be a minor, immediately rectified issue, as it passed on the same day with no defects recorded on the retest. This pattern indicates a fastidious owner who addressed a trivial fault promptly rather than ignoring a developing mechanical problem. The mileage accumulation aligns perfectly with light, typical usage for a vehicle of this age. Between September 2022 and September 2023, the car covered 7,472 miles, followed by 10,832 miles between September 2023 and September 2024, and 11,124 miles between September 2024 and September 2025. This steady increase suggests consistent, regular driving rather than prolonged periods of inactivity or sudden high-mileage commutes. The current recorded mileage of 67,989 miles equates to roughly 6,800 miles per year over its ten-year lifespan, confirming gentle use that typically spares suspension bushes, drivetrain components, and braking systems from excessive wear. Despite the flawless MOT record, a physical inspection remains essential to verify the condition of components not always fully assessed during a standard test. Examine the condition of the tyres and brake discs for uneven wear, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from corrosion on braking surfaces rather than friction wear. Check the suspension bushes and coil springs for perishing, which occurs with age regardless of mileage. Inspect the exhaust system for corrosion and verify the structural integrity of the underbody and sills, ensuring no hidden rust compromises the chassis. The pristine documentation strongly suggests meticulous upkeep, but a hands-on evaluation confirms the mechanical reality matches the paper trail.
