2012 Toyota Yaris 1.5L Other · FG12 GYV

The 2012 Toyota Yaris presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass on 13 August 2025 at 116,144 miles with zero defects recorded. That result is significant because it follows an advisory raised in the previous test, indicating the offside rear wheel bearing noise flagged on 14 August 2024 at 113,502 miles has either self-resolved or, more likely, been addressed by the previous owner. The absence of any new advisories or failures in the most recent test suggests the vehicle is currently in solid mechanical order. The mileage accumulation is consistent and unremarkable for a 14-year-old car, averaging roughly 8,296 miles per year. The annual MOT intervals show steady progression: 107,326 miles in August 2022, 109,853 in August 2023, 113,502 in August 2024, and 116,144 in August 2025. That equates to approximately 2,500 to 3,600 miles per year in recent use, which is slightly below the long-term average but reflects a pattern of regular, light-duty driving rather than prolonged standing. No suspicious gaps or sudden jumps appear in the record. The advisory history is sparse but informative. The offside rear wheel bearing noise noted in 2024 at 113,502 miles warranted monitoring, as a deteriorating bearing can eventually affect hub assembly integrity and wheel security. A buyer should verify whether the bearing was replaced or simply re-greased by listening for roughness during a low-speed road test on a quiet surface. The nearside front tyre wear advisory from 4 March 2021 at 90,565 miles points to possible historical alignment or suspension geometry issues, though the subsequent three clean tests suggest the underlying cause was corrected. Still, a physical inspection of all four tyres for uneven wear patterns and a check of front suspension bushes and tracking geometry would be prudent. Beyond the recorded advisories, the age and mileage warrant a close visual inspection of structural corrosion, particularly around rear sills, subframes, and brake line mounting points. Exhaust system integrity should be assessed given the vehicle is over 14 years old, as corrosion-related emissions failures are common in ageing small hatchbacks. Brake disc and pad condition, coil spring integrity, and shock absorber performance should all be verified in person, as these components deteriorate with age regardless of how clean the MOT record appears.
