2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK 1.8L Petrol · FH04 ANU

The 2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK presents a stable roadworthiness trend, with the most recent test on 11 August 2023 at 151,311 miles returning a pass and no defects recorded. Across the four subsequent annual tests from July 2020 to August 2023, the vehicle cleared each examination without advisories or failures, indicating consistent mechanical condition over the late-service life. The only blemish in the sequence is a failed test on 23 July 2020 at 141,626 miles, which the record shows with no defects logged, followed eight days later by a pass at 141,643 miles, suggesting an administrative or non-mechanical rejection rather than a fault-driven failure. Mileage accumulation sits at a typical level for a 22-year-old vehicle, with 151,311 recorded miles equating to roughly 6,878 per year. The history shows light annual use between tests: 1,087 miles from July 2021 to June 2022, then 6,728 miles to August 2023. A short interval of 17 miles separates the July 2020 fail and pass, confirming the retest followed immediately. No rapid accumulation or unexplained gaps appear in the supplied data, and the clean advisory record across five years implies the previous keeper addressed consumables before each test. Given the absence of flagged suspension bushes, coil springs, brake discs, or corrosion entries, the buyer should still commission an independent inspection of structural integrity and underbody rust, as a 2004 roadster is prone to sills and floor pan deterioration unseen in a pass-only record. The retractable hardtop mechanisms and hydraulic lines warrant hands-on checks, since MOT tests do not load these systems. Verify the July 2020 failure reason via DVSA documents, as the no-defect entry leaves the rejection cause unconfirmed.
