2016 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · FH16 FWS

The most recent MOT test conducted on 10 June 2026 resulted in a pass, following a minor failure regarding the effectiveness of both the nearside and offside windscreen wipers. Aside from this isolated incident, the vehicle demonstrates an exceptionally stable and positive maintenance trend, with a consistent record of clean passes and no recorded defects spanning the previous six years. This suggests that the vehicle has been subject to regular inspections and has not suffered from significant mechanical or structural deterioration during its tenure. The recorded mileage of 48,037 miles for a ten-year-old vehicle equates to an average annual usage of approximately 4,800 miles. This is considerably lower than typical usage for a Land Rover Discovery, indicating the vehicle has likely been used for light, infrequent journeys or has spent extended periods stationary. While this lower mileage reduces the cumulative wear on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain components, it introduces specific risks associated with low-use vehicles, particularly regarding the degradation of components that rely on regular operation to remain in optimal condition. As a prospective buyer, your inspection should focus on age-related degradation rather than high-mileage wear. Closely examine the tyres for signs of perishing or sidewall cracking, as rubber can harden and crack due to age even if the tread depth remains high. Check the brake discs for excessive surface corrosion and test the braking performance for any signs of binding calipers or shuddering, which can occur when a vehicle sits for long periods. You should also inspect the suspension bushes and coil springs for any signs of perished rubber or corrosion, and listen for any clunks or knocks during the test drive that might indicate components have seized or dried out from inactivity. Furthermore, given the low mileage, it is vital to verify that the service history follows calendar-based intervals rather than just mileage-based ones. Ensure that engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid have been replaced according to the manufacturer's time recommendations to prevent fluid degradation. Check the health of the 12V battery, as infrequent driving can lead to incomplete charging cycles and reduced battery longevity. Finally, if the vehicle is equipped with air suspension, monitor its operation closely for any unusual compressor noise or uneven settling, as seals within the system can perish when not regularly cycled through their full range of movement.
