2003 Maserati Coupe 4.2L Petrol · FJ03 GYY

The vehicle presents a stable and exemplary maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass on 27 March 2026 at 63,180 miles with zero defects recorded. Every test since 2022 has passed without a single advisory or failure, indicating a meticulous approach to preventative maintenance. This unblemished record suggests the previous owner addressed wear items proactively rather than waiting for components to fail. At 23 years old, the recorded mileage of 63,180 equates to an annual average of roughly 2,747 miles, confirming exceptionally light usage. The MOT history reveals a consistent and gradual accumulation of miles over the past four years. Between the March 2022 test at 55,654 miles and the March 2023 test at 59,296 miles, the car covered 3,642 miles. The subsequent annual increments show a slight tapering, with 733 miles added between 2023 and 2024, 1,530 miles between 2024 and 2025, and 1,621 miles between 2025 and 2026. Such low mileage typically reduces wear on consumables and drivetrain components, though prolonged periods of standing can introduce its own issues like perished rubber or corroded brake discs. Despite the flawless MOT record, a pre-purchase inspection must focus on age-related deterioration rather than mechanical wear. A vehicle standing idle for extended periods often suffers from perished suspension bushes, degraded engine mounts, and seized brake calipers. The low mileage means the original structural seams and underbody should be scrutinised for corrosion, particularly around the sills, subframes, and floor pans. Tyres matching the low tread wear could still be suffering from sidewall cracking due to age, requiring a close inspection of the date codes. A specialist should verify the condition of the cambelt and cooling system, as infrequent use accelerates rubber hose degradation and moisture accumulation within the engine oil.
