2012 Volkswagen Transporter 2.0L Diesel · FL12 XDT

The 2012 Volkswagen Transporter demonstrates a highly stable maintenance trend, culminating in a completely clean pass on 16 January 2026 at 130,593 miles. The tester recorded zero defects and zero advisories during this most recent examination, indicating that all major structural and mechanical systems met the required roadworthiness standards at that time. This unbroken string of passes suggests consistent upkeep rather than a pattern of neglect or escalating mechanical failures. The mileage accumulation aligns closely with typical usage for a commercial vehicle of this age. Between the January 2022 test at 99,928 miles and the January 2026 test at 130,593 miles, the Transporter covered approximately 30,665 miles over four years, averaging roughly 7,666 miles annually. The yearly intervals show steady, incremental jumps—10,074 miles between 2022 and 2023, 10,525 miles between 2023 and 2024, 1,673 miles between 2024 and 2025, and 8,393 miles between 2025 and 2026. There are no alarming gaps or sudden spikes in the odometer readings that would suggest long periods of standing or severe misuse. Because the MOT record contains no recurring faults or advisories, the history does not point to any specific chronic mechanical failure. However, a 14-year-old Transporter with 130,593 miles demands a rigorous physical inspection focused on typical wear areas. Buyers should closely examine the structural integrity of the chassis and load floor for corrosion, particularly around the sills and wheel arches. Suspension components, including the front coil springs and rear leaf springs, require scrutiny for cracking or sagging. Brake discs and pads should be measured for wear, and the calipers checked for any signs of binding. While the emissions and roadworthiness tests passed cleanly in January, a thorough assessment of the drivetrain and steering linkage remains essential before purchase.
