2007 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · FM56 DGZ

The vehicle's roadworthiness status is currently uncertain and potentially compromised. The most recent MOT record from 23 December 2022 shows a failure at 106,735 miles, and there is no subsequent pass recorded to confirm the car is legal for road use. This creates a significant gap in the compliance history, as the vehicle has not had a valid test for over three years relative to the current date of 8 August 2026. The mileage is notably low for a 19 year old car, averaging roughly 5,618 miles per year. Between 17 December 2021 and 23 December 2022, the vehicle covered 5,554 miles. However, the total lack of recorded mileage or testing since late 2022 suggests the car has likely been stationary for a prolonged period. Long periods of inactivity often lead to seized brake calipers, perished tyre sidewalls, and degraded battery health. A physical inspection must prioritise the chassis and suspension components. Given the age of this Astra and the likelihood of it sitting idle, a buyer should check for structural corrosion on the sills and floor pan. The braking system requires a thorough check for binding calipers or rusted discs, and the tyres should be inspected for flat spots or cracking. The engine and drivetrain also require scrutiny due to the long dormancy. A buyer should check for fluid leaks and ensure the oil has not degraded. Because the 2022 test resulted in a failure without listed defects in the provided data, it is critical to verify the exact reason for that failure to ensure no major mechanical or structural faults remain unresolved.
