2003 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · FY03 OFV

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-06-18 recorded a failure despite no defects being listed, which is unusual. Previous tests from 2024-06-18 to 2022-06-13 all passed with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance trend. The lack of recorded issues in earlier tests suggests the car has been well-maintained, but the unexplained failure in 2025 warrants further scrutiny to confirm whether it was an administrative error or an overlooked fault. The recorded mileage of 23,619 miles over 23 years equates to approximately 1,027 miles annually, significantly lower than average for a vehicle of this age. This suggests prolonged periods of inactivity, which can lead to dry rot in rubber components, corrosion in underbody areas, and fluid degradation. The MOT tests, spaced exactly one year apart, show no gaps in coverage, but the low mileage raises concerns about potential hidden wear in systems not typically tested during MOTs, such as the drivetrain or electrical components. A buyer should inspect the suspension for hardened bushes or coil springs, as infrequent use can cause stiffness. Brake components, including calipers and discs, should be checked for corrosion or binding, particularly if the car was stored without regular movement. Structural integrity is likely intact given the absence of rust-related advisories, but underbody corrosion warrants a close visual assessment. The unexplained MOT failure also necessitates a detailed pre-purchase inspection to rule out undetected issues.
