2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 3.0L Diesel · G3 HKN

The vehicle is currently roadworthy, but the maintenance trend shows signs of deteriorating wear components and suspension fatigue. The most recent test in April 2025 at 59,831 miles resulted in an initial failure due to headlamp alignment issues and multiple tyre defects. Although the vehicle passed upon retest, the presence of play in the nearside front lower suspension arm ball joints—a fault first noted in April 2024—indicates that suspension components are beginning to reach their service limit. The mileage profile is notably low for a ten-year-old S Class, averaging approximately 6,000 miles per year. There is a significant gap in records between July 2021 at 44,404 miles and April 2023 at 51,443 miles, suggesting the vehicle sat stationary or used infrequently during this period. This low annual usage often leads to the degradation of rubber-based components, as evidenced by the 2023 advisory regarding a perished offside front tyre and the recurring issues with ball joints in later tests. A buyer must conduct a thorough inspection of the front suspension geometry, as the ball joint play has persisted across two consecutive years without a recorded replacement. The brake history shows a pattern of reactive maintenance, with thin pads flagged on all corners in 2021 and pitted discs noted back in 2019. Given the 2025 report identified two tyres near the legal limit and a nail in the offside rear, the current state of all rubberwork and friction surfaces should be verified immediately to ensure no further expenditure is required since the last test.
