2016 MINI Cooper 1.5L Petrol · GC66 BXJ

The vehicle maintains a roadworthy status, though the maintenance trend shows the first sign of mechanical wear recently. In the most recent test on 25 July 2025 at 51,708 miles, the tester flagged a nearside rear brake imbalance. Although the vehicle met the legal requirements for the parking brake, this indicates that the braking system is reaching the limit of its tolerance levels and requires professional attention for adjustment or component replacement to prevent a future failure. The mileage profile is consistently low for a ten-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 5,171 miles per year. The record shows steady progression from 29,071 miles in September 2021 to 51,708 miles in July 2025. This low usage pattern suggests the car has been driven sparingly, which typically reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine components. However, such low-mileage operation can sometimes lead to the gradual degradation of rubber-based components or internal corrosion of brake hardware if the vehicle has sat stationary for extended periods. A buyer should prioritise a physical inspection of the braking system to determine the cause of the nearside imbalance, specifically checking for seized caliper pins or worn brake pads. Given the low mileage, it is also vital to inspect the suspension bushes and tyres for cracking or dry rot, as age affects these materials regardless of distance travelled. The clean history of tests between 2021 and 2024 suggests good structural integrity, but the 2025 brake advisory serves as a warning sign that mechanical maintenance needs are beginning to emerge.
