2006 Morgan Plus 4 2.0L Petrol · GK06 CZE

This Morgan Plus 4 has maintained a consistent MOT pass record with no defects recorded across all five tests, most recently passing on 11 June 2025 at just 13,788 miles. The absence of advisories or failures over nearly five years of testing suggests the vehicle has undergone regular, competent servicing and has not suffered from any recurring mechanical issues. However, the most recent test occurred over a year ago, which is beyond the standard 12-month MOT validity period. Given the low mileage accumulation since the last test, there is no indication of urgent wear, but a pre-purchase inspection remains essential to verify current condition. The recorded mileage of 13,788 miles over 20 years—approximately 689 miles annually—is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age, indicating either minimal use or prolonged periods of storage. There are no gaps in MOT testing that would suggest neglect, as each test was conducted within the required 12-month window. The steady, slow progression of mileage also implies that high-stress components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and drivetrain elements have experienced minimal cyclic loading, which could theoretically reduce the likelihood of catastrophic failure. Still, the lack of mileage does not negate the need for thorough inspection of components that degrade over time regardless of usage, such as corrosion-prone areas and electrical systems. Given the clean MOT history, the primary focus of a pre-purchase inspection should centre on structural integrity and corrosion, particularly in the chassis, subframe, and wheel arches, where rust can develop even with low mileage. The suspension geometry, including coil springs and bushes, should be checked for wear or misalignment, as these can degrade silently over time. Brake components, despite no recorded failures, warrant inspection for uneven wear, binding calipers, or corrosion on the discs and pads. Additionally, the exhaust system should be examined for leaks or structural compromise, as emissions-related failures are not recorded in the MOT history but can still pose operational risks. The electrical system, including lights and indicators, should also be tested, as these are not always flagged in MOT tests but can fail intermittently. Finally, verify the condition of the engine bay, particularly for fluid leaks or degraded hoses, as these are not captured in MOT records but can indicate underlying maintenance issues.
