2006 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · GR55 BYV

The 2006 Toyota Yaris, recorded at 38,089 miles, presently meets all roadworthiness criteria as confirmed by the June 12, 2023 MOT, which recorded a pass with no defects. The maintenance record shows a stable, improving trajectory, with successive tests from 2020 onward displaying no failures and no recorded defects, indicating that previous issues such as tyre wear, wiper effectiveness, and parking brake reserve travel have been rectified. At an age of 20 years, the vehicle averages roughly 1,900 miles annually, a figure that is low for its vintage and suggests extended periods of limited use or storage. Mileage accumulation has been relatively steady, with the largest yearly increase occurring between 2021 and 2022 (3,665 miles) and the smallest between 2018 and 2019 (1,200 miles), while no significant gaps exceed two years in the documented history. A buyer should therefore focus on the parking brake lever travel, ensuring full reserve, and verify the condition of the rear and front brake calipers for binding, as these items were repeatedly flagged before the recent pass. Inspect suspension bushes, coil springs, and chassis for corrosion, especially around the wheel arches and subframe, given the recurring tyre wear that often correlates with worn suspension components. Check the windscreen wiper mechanisms and blade condition, and confirm that the rear registration lamp functions, as these were noted in earlier failures. Overall, the vehicle presents a low‑mileage, well‑maintained example, but the buyer must confirm that the previously identified mechanical and structural items have been fully remedied before final acceptance.
