2004 BMW X5 3.0L Diesel · GW04 AWM

The roadworthiness status of this 2004 BMW X5 shows a stable trend based on the most recent evaluation, culminating in a pass on August 6, 2025 at 216,415 miles. This followed a failure just days earlier on August 1, 2025, though the specific testing details for that initial refusal are not itemized in the public dataset. Prior passes occurred on April 5, 2024, February 21, 2023, and November 29, 2021, all yielding clean test sheets with zero advisories or recorded defects. The vehicle has accumulated 216,415 miles over its 22-year lifespan, averaging roughly 9,837 miles per year, which aligns with typical driving patterns for a large diesel or petrol SUV of this era. A notable temporal gap exists between the November 2021 test and the February 2023 test, spanning approximately fifteen months, alongside another extended interval between April 2024 and August 2025. While the records show consecutive clean passes since late 2021, the absence of minor advisories on older MOT certificates requires a cautious interpretation, as testers do not inspect internal engine health or hidden chassis corrosion. Given the heavy weight and high mileage inherent to the BMW X5 platform, an in-person inspection must focus heavily on the suspension arms, subframe mountings, ball joints, and air suspension components which frequently suffer from accelerated wear. The braking system requires close scrutiny of the discs, pads, and flexible lines, alongside checks for fluid leaks around the transfer case, differential seals, and power steering rack. Prospective buyers should also inspect the sills, jacking points, and floorpan for structural corrosion, as vehicles of this age frequently conceal hidden degradation beneath plastic undertrays.
