A history of critical braking system failures defines the mechanical record of this vehicle, specifically regarding dangerous parking brake inefficiency and severely worn rear brake pads recorded in 2022 and 2023. While the most recent test on 18 October 2025 resulted in a pass with only a tyre advisory, the pattern of dangerous defects in previous years indicates a period of significant braking system degradation. The recurrence of lighting failures also appears in the 2023 and 2024 records, though these are minor electrical faults. With 152,446 miles recorded over 21 years, the vehicle has averaged approximately 7,259 miles per year. This consistent usage pattern suggests the vehicle has avoided long periods of stagnation, but the total mileage puts increased stress on high-wear items. At this stage of its life, the cumulative mileage means that drivetrain components, suspension linkages, and rubber bushings are likely approaching the end of their natural service life. Particular attention should be paid to the rear suspension, as worn arm pins and bushes were flagged in 2022. During a test drive, listen for knocking or clunking sounds when traversing speed bumps or uneven road surfaces, and check for any instability or wandering during highway cruising. The recorded oil leak from 2022 should be verified by inspecting the engine bay and the underside of the chassis for fresh residue or staining, as this can indicate ongoing gasket or seal failure. Given the history of dangerous parking brake inefficiency and pitted rear discs, the braking system requires a thorough evaluation. Test the handbrake on an incline to ensure it holds the vehicle firmly without slipping. During deceleration, feel for any judder through the brake pedal, which could indicate that the previously pitted rear discs have not been fully replaced or have developed further irregularities. Finally, check the current condition of the offside rear tyre, as it was noted as being close to the legal limit in the latest inspection.
