2012 Toyota Aygo 1.0L Petrol · HJ12 GCZ

The 2012 Toyota Aygo has maintained a consistent MOT history with no defects recorded across all five tests, including the most recent inspection on 9 January 2026 at 74,332 miles. This suggests the vehicle has passed all mandatory roadworthiness checks without fail, though the absence of advisories or defects does not preclude underlying issues requiring closer inspection. The most recent test, just six months ago, confirms compliance with current emissions and safety standards, but the lack of any recorded faults does not imply the vehicle has been mechanically serviced beyond statutory requirements. The recorded mileage of 74,332 miles over 14 years indicates unusually low annual usage, averaging just over 5,300 miles per year. This pattern is notable for its stability, with no sudden spikes or prolonged gaps that might suggest neglect or extended periods of disuse. The most significant mileage jump occurred between the January 2022 (58,054 miles) and December 2022 (60,544 miles) tests, a modest increase of 2,490 miles in under a year, followed by consistent annual increments of around 4,500–5,000 miles. While low mileage generally reduces wear on high-stress components, it can also indicate extended periods of inactivity, potentially leading to issues like flat spots on tyres, seized suspension joints, or degraded fluids. Given the clean MOT record, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of suspension components—particularly the coil springs, bushes, and dampers—due to the vehicle’s age and mileage. The lack of advisories does not rule out gradual wear in these areas, which could affect handling and ride quality. Brake components, including discs, pads, and calipers, should also be scrutinised for uneven wear or binding, as even low-mileage vehicles can develop issues if brakes were not regularly serviced. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, warrants inspection for corrosion, as prolonged standing can accelerate rust formation. Finally, fluid levels and condition—brakes, power steering, and engine oil—should be checked, as they are not routinely tested in MOTs but are critical to long-term reliability.
